The first visit is the most important as it is when I get to sit down with you and not only find out why you are coming to see me, but to go through a detailed medical history; review of systems, nutrition and diet, sleep patterns, exercise, present medications, etc. This process is very thorough. In Chinese Medicine, we are trying to paint a picture of the whole person to better determine what systems are out of balance. The idea is that we are not treating symptoms, but actually trying, through thorough investigation, to determine the cause, or “root” of the problem. The beauty of Chinese Medicine, and the thing that makes it so effective, is that every person gets an individualized treatment plan designed specifically for them from all the information gathered in the initial session. For example, 2 people may seek out acupuncture for headaches, but will each be treated completely differently depending on all the other factors that are contributing to their headaches. This is the strength of TCM and why it is so effective. Treatment is not for a headache, it is for YOUR headache.
Subsequent treatments are usually an hour depending on the complexity of the case. How many treatments required to resolve the issue depends on many factors, but the more information I gather, the better and more effective treatment plan I can design for any given ailment. Each subsequent treatment begins with us talking and determining how the treatments are working and then I ask more questions so that I can tweak treatments as necessary. Detailed notes are taken at every session that I review and notes help me with research I do in between treatments. I also encourage questions, and do my best to explain the diagnosis, the treatment principal and ways in which that patient can adjust their lifestyle to remain balanced in the present and the future.

Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments are holistic and, despite the name, they are still medical treatments. I am taking into consideration everything that I would in a regular acupuncture treatment except that I am concentrating more on the face. Cosmetic acupuncture treatments include taking a full medical history as body points are used as well as facial points to make sure that the entire body is being rebalanced. I am treating any deficiencies or excesses that may be contributing to specific issues presenting on the face. Each treatment will include an organic volcanic mud mask, cosmetic acupuncture (facial points), acupuncture using body points, and facial massage. You will leave feeling energized, refreshed and with a renewed sense of wellbeing.
